Hoofprints in the Sand (HITS) is an equine-based nonprofit serving Veterans living with PTSD and traumatic brain injury. It offers equine-assisted therapy, including hippotherapy, within personalized care plans led by a registered nurse. Veterans take part in guided interaction with horses to build trust, communication and confidence. The programme is delivered at its equine facility in a natural setting near the Francis Marion National Forest.
