Hufbeschlag Wedig is a family farriery in Garlstorf in the Lüneburg Heath, founded in 1996 by Karl-Jürgen "Kalle" Wedig and now run together with his son Lukas — the third generation of farriers in the family. They shoe horses of every age, from foals and youngstock through sport and leisure horses to retired veterans, and fit light shoes for carriage horses. The work covers trimming, corrective and orthopaedic shoeing, synthetic hoof repair and glue-on shoes, and they will work alongside a client's vet or clinic where needed. They do not take on sliding plates, racing plates or heavy draught work.
